[ARCHIVED] Artist’s Piece Displayed for First Time Publicly in the Mount Pleasant Mayor’s Office
MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (October 26, 2016) – Committed to the creative community of Mount Pleasant, Mayor Linda Page and the Mount Pleasant Culture, Arts & Pride Commission continue to support and promote the work of local artists through the Mayor’s Office Art program.
Richard F. Rose will display his enchanting piece Pepper 2 for the first time publicly. The oil painting will be showcased for residents and visitors of the mayor’s office until December.
“We are truly lucky to have such an extensive artistic community here in Mount Pleasant,” said Mayor Page. “Mr. Rose’s work is another example of the great talent and creativity we have within our town.”
Rose is a Fine Art Artist with a background in design, illustration and advertising. A recent recipient of the People’s Choice Award at the 29th Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival, Rose and his wife have lived in Mount Pleasant for nearly 20 years.
Dedicated to contributing to the art culture of Mount Pleasant, Rose paints extensively and has been commissioned for private collections nationally for organizations such as the National Audubon Society. Most notably he was commissioned by former Lieutenant Governor Glenn F. McConnell to paint two of the most technically accurate renditions of the H.L. Hunley submarine.
Similar to the coastal lifestyle and shrimping heritage of Mount Pleasant, Pepper 2 was inspired by the working fishing boats of Mykonos, Greece. “I am inspired by all of nature. The landscapes, seascapes and animals,” said Rose. “Nature is included in all of my pieces.”
Richard has been an exhibiting artist in the Charleston Artist Guild for more than 18 years. He is a new member of the Mount Pleasant Artist Guild and exhibits regularly at the South Carolina Cultural Center in Walterboro. His works can be viewed online at www.rfrose.com.
