MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (June 28, 2018) - National Mosquito Control Awareness Week will conclude on June 30 and Charleston County will use this opportunity to focus on educating citizens about the elimination of container-breeding mosquitos. Container-breeding mosquitoes account for up to 30 percent of the requests for service received by the division each year. Container-breeding mosquitoes such as the Albopictus and Aegypti Mosquitoes can carry common diseases such as West Nile virus and Zika virus.
The most effective way to control these mosquitoes is to eliminate their breeding source.
